as the most popular design concepts for the year ahead.

top ten predictions.
1. VIVID COLOUR
With so many messages competing for attention,
colour is going to be big this year – bright, bold pops of colour and stand-out palettes that are all about grabbing attention.
2. FUTURISTIC IMAGES
Floating and anti-gravity images are leading the way to the future
along with 3D, alternate universe imagery
and everything that speaks of the excitement of the new.
3. LIGHT-DARK CONTRAST
The tech look is going to go mainstream this year
with designers opting for more contrasting light-dark colours
and visual opposites in plain designs.
A simple design communicates honesty, integrity
and confidence in the product.
It also stands out in our visually cluttered world.
Simple, bold shapes and colours are
a trend that’s going to keep gaining traction.
Gradients were big in 2018 and the trend shows no sign of slowing. The sense of movement and depth they give has been given
a boost by recent advances in technology.
Look out for duotone and bright colours teamed with
dark shades to enhance the 3D quality.
6. HAND-DRAWN FONTS AND IMAGES
Stock imagery is out, originality is in.
Hand-drawn designs shout authenticity, intimacy and innovation. Advances in stylus pens and tablets has opened up
a whole new world of personalised, one-designs that tell
your customers there are actual people behind your product.
7. MIXED MESSAGES
Tactile and creative teamed with web icons and imagery will utilise
the best of familiar digital and print visual communications to create
a bridge between the two.
8. COSMIC BLUES
Blue, violet and black for the sense of cosmos are going to
feature this year when future feel is big and landscapes are broad. They also create a wonderful depth and juxtaposition to
the warmth of natural colours like
Pantone’s Colour of the Year, Living Coral.
Creators are looking to improvise, especially with doodles
and offbeat designs. This one has already begun to give us
some fabulous new packaging designs.

Gold for strength and luxury along with iridescent metals for
a futuristic thrill, will make your products shine this year.
